Eastern Nigeria sits on the Gulf of Guinea. The Benue and Niger
rivers form the Northern and western edges of the region. The largest ethnic
group is the Igbo. The main religion is Christian. Igbo build houses out of mud
bricks and metal roofs. In swampy areas, people build houses on stilts and in
the rainy season, paddle to them in canoes. Most of Eastern Nigeria’s revenue
comes from oil in the Niger River Delta.
